Simulation of resonance
This project involved using Abaqus CAE to simulate a structure's eigenmodes and comparing the results with experimental data. The objective was to analyse discrepancies between theoretical and real-world eigenfrequencies.
In association with
Key Tasks:
Conducted finite element analysis (FEA) in Abaqus to extract eigenfrequencies and mode shapes.
Performed experimental tests to determine actual eigenmodes and frequencies.
Compared simulation results to experimental data to identify sources of discrepancies.
Key Skills Developed:
FEA Proficiency: Used Abaqus CAE to simulate dynamic behaviour and extract eigenmodes.
Experimental Validation: Conducted physical tests to collect and analyse vibration data.
Data Analysis: Interpreted differences between simulated and experimental results, attributing discrepancies to idealised vs. real-world conditions.
Problem Solving: Addressed challenges in aligning theoretical predictions with experimental observations.
